The Space:

Known as "The Spy House" for its ties to a WWII German spy, this fully restored 1880s home blends historic charm with modern comfort, including dual-zone central heating and air conditioning. The open-concept living room and kitchen make it easy for everyone to gather, and the decorative wood-burning stove adds character (note: fires are not permitted in the stove or anywhere on the property).



The eat-in kitchen is a standout. It features a gas range, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a handmade farm table.



Bedrooms include convenient bedside device charging docks.



Three full bathrooms serve the home. Please note the upstairs bathrooms have a small step down at their entrance.



Outdoor space includes a combined patio and back yard, plus a separate front porch, ideal for morning coffee or unwinding after a day of exploring. Board games are available for family entertainment.

Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the entire home, including the kitchen, living areas, patio, and porch, plus in-unit laundry and on-site parking for two vehicles. Check-in is contactless: after signing the rental agreement and submitting a photo ID within 24 hours of booking, guests receive check-in instructions by email the week of their stay. For guest safety and smooth self-check-in, exterior security cameras may monitor the front and rear entrances only.

The Spy House sits on Camp Hill in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia — a National Historical Park town where 19th-century charm meets outdoor adventure. Despite its quiet, residential setting, the home is just a 10-minute walk from downtown's shops, restaurants, and the train station, and even closer to major landmarks: the Appalachian Trail Conservancy Headquarters (3 minutes on foot), Jefferson Rock (6 minutes), and John Brown's Fort (13 minutes). Wine lovers can explore nearby Loudoun County vineyards like 868 Estate Vineyards and Breaux Vineyards, craft beer fans can visit Abolitionist Ale Works or Harpers Ferry Brewing, and thrill-seekers can book zip-lining, whitewater rafting, or tubing trips through the Harpers Ferry Adventure Center. The confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers also makes this a top spot for kayaking, hiking the Appalachian Trail, and birdwatching.



Getting Around:

The home is walkable to downtown Harpers Ferry and its Amtrak/MARC train station, making it easy to explore without a car once you're settled in. On-site parking is available for those driving in. A car is recommended for reaching area wineries, spas, and restaurants a short drive away.

To ensure you have a memorable, safe, and peaceful stay, we appreciate you following our house rules. This is also important for maintaining relationships with our neighbors and community.



RENTAL AGREEMENT & ID: The guest booking the property must digitally sign a rental agreement and provide a government-issued ID immediately following the reservation. The most important terms of the agreement are included below, and the guest may cancel a booking penalty-free within 24 hours. If the rental agreement is not completed within 24 hours then the reservation will be cancelled. A link to the agreement will be sent by email.



AGE 25 OR OLDER TO BOOK: The guest booking the property must be 25 years of age or older. The guest who books must stay at the property. You may not book for others if you do not intend to stay at the property. There are no parties, loud music, or events allowed.



MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The property permits a maximum of eight guests, excluding children under 24 months of age.



QUIET HOURS START AT 10 PM: Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 6 AM, in accordance with Jefferson County's noise ordinance. Failure to abide by the county noise ordinance will result in the immediate termination of the stay without refund.



NOISE MONITORING AND SECURITY CAMERAS: The property may be equipped with noise monitoring devices that detect sustained high decibel levels, typically triggered by loud music. These devices are privacy compliant, do not record audio, and are used solely to help ensure compliance with local noise ordinances and house rules. Exterior cameras allow us to facilitate remote check in and monitor the property between guests. They cover front and rear entry points only.



NO SMOKING: Smoking is never allowed inside the house. You may smoke outside as long as you clean up after yourself. You may not litter cigarette butts on the porch, patio, in the yard, or anywhere else. Butts must be disposed of after they are fully out and cooled off.



SHEETS: At the end of your stay you will be asked to strip the sheets off the beds that were used and leave the sheets on top of the beds.



NO PETS: The property is a pet-free environment. No pets or animals of any kind are permitted.



LIMITED PARKING: There is room for a maximum of two cars in front of the house. There are limited free spaces on Fillmore Street and paid street parking available along Washington St, but spots can be very hard to find on the weekends.



NO FIREARMS: Firearms, ammunition, and other weapons are not permitted on the property.



NO ILLEGAL DRUGS: Guests may not possess or consume any illegal drugs on the property, including cannabis.



NO FIRES: No fires are permitted in the indoor wood stove or anywhere on the grounds.



ALL FEES INCLUDED: All displayed rates include fees. No surprises at checkout.
