The Tickled Trout — West Farleigh’s Warmest Secret Tucked gently into the rolling green of West Farleigh, The Tickled Trout feels less like a pub and more like a love letter to quintessential Britain. It sits there quietly - cosey, warm, and impossibly inviting - as though the countryside itself decided to give you a hug. Step inside and you’re met not by staff, but by hosts, bright-eyed and brilliantly friendly, the kind of people who make you feel as though you’ve lived here your whole life. There’s a soft murmur of conversation, a clink of glasses, and that unmistakable sense of community, so rare these days, yet alive and well within these walls. And then the food arrives. Not “pub grub,” not even close - this is craft, incredibly good dishes that carry a quiet confidence,as if they know they’ll exceed every expectation long before you lift a fork. It’s the sort of cooking that makes you linger, savouring both the flavour and the moment. Stay the night and you’ll find rooms that are beautifully appointed, thoughtful in every detail, where comfort is woven into the fabric of the place. Excellent all round. Room was pleasant with very comfortable bed. Had evening meal and breakfast both of which were very good. Large open space nearby for dog walking. Staff very pleasant. Would recommend without hesitation.
