Gun Barrel City is a town in Henderson County, Texas, United States. Its population was 6,190 at the 2020 census, an increase over the figure of 5,672 tabulated in 2010. The town began as an unincorporated community known as the `Old Bethel Community` in the 1960s after completion of Cedar Creek Reservoir.

The house itself was pretty good. It was clean and fit our large group pretty well and came with the amenities as described. HOWEVER before you book, check the water level of the lake! Before we booked, I asked if we could jump off the dock. I was told that we could swim right off the dock. However, upon arrival, the water level was about 2 1/2 feet deep. If my son stood still, he would sink in the muck about a foot before needing to wriggle out. The neighbor’s boat had grass growing underneath it. I researched and found out that when we booked, the water level would have been 4 or 4 1/2 feet deep at absolute most, making jumping off the dock not a safe option. We left early because of it. So in summary, if you want to discover Gun Barrel City, this house is a good option. If you want to swim in the lake, you will need to do your research first. The only way we could truly swim was going to a local beach for 5 a person.

Great place to stay. Had a great time and made some great memories. Place is nice and roomy for a big group. Deck was great and we enjoyed getting in the water.
