Helpful, friendly reception staff. Good value stay. Spacious twin room. Londis shop very nearby to buy coffee and breakfast and plenty of cafes and restaurants. Loved the hotel lounge but it was a bit too warm for us to sit there too long. We hadn't pre-booked parking at the hotel but managed to find free parking nearby for the 3 nights we stayed. We would definitely stay again.
This is a grade 2 listed building and is beautiful. Some might say it's a bit outdated, but that's definitely part of its charm.
We had a huge room that was very clean and comfortable. The lady on reception was fantastic and helped me up with our luggage while my partner parked the car. There is pre bookable parking at the rear for only £6 a day, and you can park out front to sort out your luggage. The views are spectacular, and the room was lovely and quiet. There's no food available but plenty of places to eat in or take out close by. Reception staff were fantastic and so happy to help. They made us feel like royalty from the moment we booked the hotel. There is a lift if you need it. We plan to stay again as it was perfect and so special.

Friendly helpful staff. Wonderful building, faded opulence. Must be good to have a room on the view side
Great location minutes away from cafés, pubs and eateries. Funicular virtually next door. Lovely old hotel, clean and full of character though indeed of a little tlc. We were made very welcome and our rooms were upgraded at no extra cost with amazing views across the valley. Very dog friendly and would definitely stay there again. Thank you.
Fantastic location with awesome scenic walks to Lynmouth and valley of the rocks on the hotels doorstep. We stayed in a twin bedroom and had the most stunning views.Clean bathroom & comfy beds. The staff were friendly helpful.

Anniversary Stay
Staff very welcoming and friendly. Hotel quite dated and needed redecorating/modernising. A shame they don’t do food or drinks as the dining area is beautiful with lovely views outside. Bed not very comfortable, memory foam mattress toppers would be a good idea! Loved the view from our room though and nicely situated. We’ve been to Lynmouth and walked the route to Watersmeet a few times now but it’s still just as pretty! And we’d never been to Valley of rocks before, stunning views and well worth a visit. Overall, a nice 2 night break away!
Friendly reception but uncomfortably worn-out room
The reception lady was friendly, but the rest was disappointing. The room and corridor reeked of mustiness. The carpet was ancient and marked, and there were scuffs on the walls. The sides of the bath sloped down away from the shower head so water from the shower ran down them and onto the floor, soaking any clothes you happened to have put there. The tiny pillow was lumpy, and the walls were so thin it sounded like your neighbours were in the room with you. The TV was fine.

Absolutely stunning location, it’s an old building that needs considerable work doing to bring it back to its former glory & they need to employ a groundsman to keep the gardens up together as I feel this would improve the whole experience.
Would I stay again…? 100% the view looking down over my Lynmouth is worth every penny & the staff were all such lovely people.
