Ripped curtains, corroded disgusting tub drain that didn’t drain (I refused to shower in it), broken elevator buttons, it smelled like they were trying to cover up even nastier smells. Its overall look was drab and tired. We stayed here about 6 years ago and it was great, right now, as is, it needs to close!

Something happened with the computer system & check in was a nightmare. Stood in line for over 45 minutes to check in. There were issues with finding the reservation & the key card would not work. Staff member had to use master key to let me into the room. Waited 2.5 hours for a key to be sent to the room, which never happened. Had to stand in line again to received a key. 2 out of 3 keys worked. Staff not helpful or friendly. Disappointing.

Dated. While clean and safe this property needs love and updates. Leaky faucet, squeaky bed and coffee maker that would shut off the power code it was plugged into so I had to search for an outlet that could run it. It was a quick stop over in a long road trip so it served its purpose.

The best part of the entire stay was the friendliness of the staff. Property conditions: there was a raining period which resulted in several leaks in entrance and parking area.

Older hotel with lots of Charm

This hotel is older, but very clean and has a lot of character! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and all the support personnel were equally great. The price was very good, and the downtown location was charming. It was just a block away within walking distance to the iconic 90 year old Texas Inn! I will definitely make this my go-to hotel in Lynchburg.

Room not ready!

Arrived at 5 pm way past check in time, waited in longline at checkin. My room as well as several others was not ready. Was told come back later. My room was not ready until 6:15. I was supposed to be at an event that started at 630. This lack of preparation on the hotels part caused me to be 45 late for an event i had come to town to attend. This was not the best experience.

Front desk was very slow. Overall room was decent. Fairly clean. Bed was fairly comfy. AC was a bit moldy, woke up very stuffy. Has a TV, Fridge, Keurig. Gym was fair, a bit dated. Shower pretty clean. Overall not bad experience. Parking garage was free. We were on 6th floor. Nice views of surrounding area.

It was a quick trip to see grandchildren and returned to the Grand and the place was rather nice and quiet as always. The staff as friendly as ever and the breakfast was hot and fresh and well stocked. The breakfast attendant was outstanding and was quickly helping multiple guest and items at one time. His personality and hustle was greatly appreciated.

It took over an hour to be checked in, no explanation, no apology, no offer of a discount of any kind, just he’s your keycard to get in. The toilet we thought was broken, but instead you had to take the back lid off so it could lift all the way up to flush. Our phone didn’t work, we were given a number to call from our own phones. We drove over 6 hours to stay at a run down hotel. I’ve paid less for more honestly.

Very slow check in. Our key card did not work right and we had to have them reactivated. The security lock was broken off the door. There was one piece of soap. Would have been nice to have had one for the sink and one for the tub. There was no hair dryer. We looked in the closet and all the drawers. Whatever had held the hairdryer in the bathroom was broken off. Staff was friendly, but was understaffed which made check in so slow. Breakfast was nice and the gentleman in charge was delightful.

Room smelled musty, beds were small and Soft. Mattresses were thin. Room looked like it was wiped quickly. Had to clean with sanitizing wipes which wiped off dirt. Sheets were clean. Very outdated hotel.

Our bathtub had a horrible grime ring and wouldn’t drain, though water pressure was good. We had a horrible time with the keycard access and had to come down multiple times for help to get into our room. The mattresses were comfortable but the hotel itself is very dated and in need of repair in areas of painting, toilets (ours wouldn’t stop running on its own) and the breakfast area is just so dark.

We liked the locality of the hotel in the historic downtown, and is walkable to few iconic restaurants and a performance theater. Hotel staff were very kind, however the breakfast wasn’t good.
