About this property

Stonewall Crossing: Historic Property on the Shenandoah River

Family-friendly vacation home in Luray
Enjoy natural beauty at this historic retreat on the banks of the Shenandoah River. Built in 1739, Stonewall Crossing sits on 25 beautiful acres with nearly a quarter mile of riverfront views, a meadow, a quarry, and views of the Massanutten mountain ridge. Stonewall Crossing is a unique, welcoming respite in the countryside that sits on the banks of this historic river. The original two-story log cabin has been beautifully renovated. The lower level serves as the Great Room, complete with a bluestone fireplace built from rock quarried on the property. In all, the house features four large bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. The décor of each bedroom draws inspiration from the original structures of the pioneering families and Shenandoah Valley farmers who have lived here over the past three centuries. Stonewall Crossing also features luxurious, modern amenities. A fully appointed, chef’s-quality kitchen with granite countertops opens to the dining room--perfect for cooking, entertaining, and gathering to enjoy special meals. Off the dining room and surrounding the house is a two-story deck overlooking the river and perfect for socializing, watching the sunset, stargazing, or relaxing with a good book. Stonewall Crossing is located in the Shenandoah Valley nestled between the Shenandoah National Forest and the George Washington National Forest. Stonewall Crossing’s deck provides a stunning view of Strickler Knob, considered one of the top hikes in the Mid-Atlantic region. Keywords: River front homestead, Retreat

    What a Great Property!

Our group of 6 including 2 teens stayed for a mid-week getaway. This was a perfect property with great access to the river, Shenandoah, Luray, etc. I couldn’t have asked for anything more and the property was one of the best rentals we’ve ever had. Thank you again for letting us stay.

    5/5 Excellent

Idyllic, Historic, Pastoral, Modern convenieces all combined!

Beautiful spacious home which accommodated 3 families to relax and enjoy our son's breathtaking country wedding. Would most highly recommend.

        Wonderful home...

This house is huge and amazing. Loved the gorgeous hardwood floors, rustic stone fireplaces and log cabin walls. Lots of different places to hang out, whether it's the top or bottom deck, outdoor fireplace area, the cabin-like family room or the spacious modern kitchen. I would recommend this home to anyone with a large family or group. Loved the fact that every bedroom has it's own bathroom. The river is across the street which is very close to the house. I thought this might be an issue but the road is not very busy. River access was not as easy as we had hoped as the area is sloped and the banks at the time were very muddy. The location of the house is close to town and so convenient to everything. We had a memorable stay and would return again in a heartbeat!

          Beautiful historic property!

Accommodated our family of 8 plus visitors beautifully. The weather didn’t cooperate so we didn’t get to take full advantage of the river access Plan to try again next year. The out door fireplace was enjoyed by all. The kitchen allowed for numerous cooks to whip up some great family meals. Peaceful setting but close to town for all the essentials. Highly recommend!!

          5/5 Excellent

Tremendous house that savors its 1800's heritage awhile blending 21st century conveniences into it.

We looked for a great "taste of Virginia" VRBO for our Midwest relatives to enjoy when they traveled to Luray for our son's wedding. This was perfect. It was six miles and 150 years away from the venue. Everybody absolutely enjoyed their stay and Stonewall Crossing's setting.
