Welcome to the Farmhouse at Borgmästargården, an oasis within a World Heritage Site. A place where modern comforts meet the spirit of history, and where the cultural atmosphere is truly palpable. Gårdshuset is part of Borgmästargården, a farmstead dating back to the early 17th century, where the family still lives today—12 generations later.
In the immediate vicinity, you’ll find all the little red church cottages that are part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, along with all the little nooks and crannies. Here are the “new” houses and buildings from the early 1800s onward. Here you’ll also find one of Sweden’s most beautiful churches, featuring an incredible altarpiece with a fascinating story to tell. The streets in Kyrkbyn are narrow and sometimes crowded, so walking is recommended if you want to explore the village.
For those staying at Gårdshuset, there is free parking—a luxury that can be hard to come by for visitors to the village.
Welcome to Gårdshuset—Part of a World Heritage Site!
