I don’t know why or how this hotel gets an 8.8 rating. It is NOT anything close. The pool is across the street for some reason. Outside door entry would not open with room key….walk around to front to re-enter. Lobby and hallway floors and carpet are very dirty. Our room door was not working properly and took two hands to open. Room carpet was dirty. Musty smell in room with dim lighting. Two lamps didn’t work. Not enough wall plugs in bedroom. One of the two wall plugs was not working. The King size bed had a Queen size down comforter which only covered the surface. We didn’t have but 1 glass and no forks in kitchette. Bathroom door drug on the tile and wouldn’t open all the way. The sink faucet had a drip. The shower had lukewarm water at best. These are some of the reasons that we won’t be back. Very few cars in the parking lot. I think others knew how bad it was. I wish Expedia customers had known these things about this hotel. On a good note the bed slept ok and the towels were clean.

The hotel is a bit of a fixer upper. Our room had carpet buckled throughout the room, large stains and where it was used as baseboard, was peeling off the walls. Some of the surfaces were covered in dust. We made the mistake of moving the nightstand to access the outlet (there was only one other one on the other side of the bedroom area) and there was so much garbage underneath it. We went to see the pool and found a big red sign saying it was closed by the health department.

Pool was closed but no one told us at Check-in. So we put on our bathing suit and headed downstairs only to find the sign on the door.. we then had to dress three crying kids to take them to the local Y. Luckily we remembered so the kids got swim. Came back to find out. They had taken the sign down because we complained, but they never told us and the sign was put back up the next morning, so it was not supposed to be opened since it was closed by the health department. Next morning, headed to breakfast at 9:30, there was one biscuit and bacon crumbs. There were eggs, but that was it for hot food except for the waffle maker. Several other people came into the breakfast room, looking for food as well. No one bothered to refill the breakfast although there was a full 30 minutes left of breakfast hour. Definitely not a good day. Don’t think I’ll be back..

It’s a ok place. I was discouraged becuz I asked for housekeeping since I stayed three nights n housekeeping did not come. Front desk had to give me extra's towels. I just would have liked to have had clean sheets. The rugs are worn, old, dirty looking. I had no issues with bugs but when things look old n worn, one can’t help but wonder. Would I stay again? Unsure.

Ac didn’t work, tried to open the window and it fell apart, managed to get window back in and closed. Room was so hot we didn’t use any comforter or sheets to cover us. Didn’t get any sleep and the king bed was hard as rock. The shower floor didn’t appear clean so the wife wouldn’t use shower. The exhaust fan in bathroom rattled and vibrated so loud. Breakfast was good, would have preferred to have bacon instead of sausage patties. All vending machines were out of bottled water. Had to get our room keys redone because they didn’t work after returning to room after running an errand. Staff was nice, said the room keys were tech from 1983 and they demagnetize very easily.

From the moment I checked in, I felt welcome. The young man at the desk was professional, informative and friendly. He answered my questions and directed me to my room, reminding me of breakfast hours and other services. Once in my suite, I was pleased to find it, clean, comfortable and stocked with everything needed to make me feel at home. I loved the soaker tub in the updated bathroom and the convenience of a fully functional kitchen! Breakfast buffet was well stocked and delicious. This location is terrific to easily access the city's attractions, close to shopping and perfect for any occasion. I have already recommended Hawthorn Suites to family and friends coming to the area and plan to stay again in the future.

The front desk attendant did a good job but was spitting periodically into a plastic bottle. Disgusting! When we got to the room it was stale with no air flow. I changed into my pajamas and went to sit on the bed when I noticed a dark speck on the linens. I got my magnifier out on my phone and it was a bug that looked like a bed bug. We immediately packed up our items and called the front desk. They did move us, but I DID NOT sleep well.

The reasons we choose this hotel, pool, hot tub, fitness room, complimentary breakfast. Pool is closed due to public health inspection. However, we were told Friday night that the pool would open Saturday morning. The kid working the from desk Saturday morning laughed in my face when I asked about pool being opened. Hot tub apparently hasn’t worked in a long time but online pictures still show it. The fitness room was a treadmill and stair machine, pictures online showed much different. The breakfast wasn’t horrible, but staff wasn’t keeping up on cleaning and restocking. Another family had spilt eggs and milk all over the floor around the tables and it was left for people to slip in. The tables were filthy. The bedrooms were spacious but you can tell no one cleans behind the beds. We went to plug in our electronics and found saw a lot of crumbs and trash. After our encounter Saturday, we checked out and went to rent a hotel that had a working pool. The front staff said I would need to contact Expedia for a refund and they would contact the hotel. I left and did that, the hotel would not refund because they couldn’t rent the room out again. The hotel was not full. This was all because of THEIR negligence in running a business.
