2/10 Terrible

Third time staying here and most likely the last. First time we had a room overlooking Half Moon Street which was surprisingly quiet and an excellent experience. 2nd time we were given a room at the back near the elevator (211?) and this suffered from mild construction noise and a faint rumble from the underground. Third time we specifically requested a room at the front however the gentlemen checking us in had no idea where the allocated room was. The lady assisting stated that they didn't know if there would be such a room but the one allocated would be lovely and quiet. She'd obviously never been in room 31 as it appears to be directly above the Jubilee Line. From just before 6am to nearly midnight there is an intrusive "rumble, rumble, rumble" every 2-3 minutes as a train passes underneath. As it doesn't seem possible to choose where your room is and the underground noise is ever present it looks like we'll have to start looking for another Mayfair option.
Additionally, we booked the B&B rate via hotels.com however the hotel stated that there had been a mistake by hotels.com and this one not the case (across all Black Friday deals). This is fair enough but I'd have expected better than "not our problem, you'll need to take it up with them" from the check in staff (as it was a known problem). Both hotels.com and the venue to blame here.
