Our room was in the basement… and it was the noisiest room I’ve ever stayed in. We were woken up extremely early on the Sunday morning with banging and clattering, the cleaning staff were going in and out of rooms and the lifts (which were right outside our door) and letting every door slam on their way out. You could hear every movement above you as well. I’m not sure if other rooms are this bad but avoid any rooms on the ground floor at all costs - we barely slept at all. Luckily we were only staying one night but we would’ve had to request a room change if we’d been staying any longer.
The location of the hotel itself was great though, around a 8 minute walk from Kings Cross, and we got an early check in for £15. The rooms were clean and modern. Staff were helpful and kind, so I imagine if we had complained about the noise the staff would’ve helped us out.
