The hotel was beautifully presented and clean throughout. The food served was very tasty, with ample choice of breakfast food. Unfortunately, the hotel service was underwhelming to say the least. We arrived to find our booking did not include the free breakfast and it was “sorted”. The following day, I checked my bank to see that I had been overcharged for the free breakfast which meant back to reception and a 3-5day wait for a refund.The bedroom had lots of great amenities including slippers, robes, coffee machine, docking station etc. However, the room was only set for 2 people and there were 3 guests, with no robe and towel for one guest, no coffee pods and only two mugs. The little details go a long way! During our stay, the most disappointing experience was the dinner in the hotel restaurant. We were the ONLY 3 people in the restaurant and we were there for 2 hours. The service was diabolically slow, it took about 20minutes for our coffees to arrive and when they did they were foul. We were offered a replacement which unfortunately still didn’t taste great. When the bill came, I asked to remove the service charge and was asked why, which I thought it was quite clear why, but also unprofessional to ask. When checking out we were asked about our stay to which I explained the above. We were then asked on the spot what rating we were going to give and told that anything under 9 is bad for the business which I felt pressured, awkward and unprofessional.
