Room 1258. Giselle who checked us in was excellent. A welcoming smile, she sold us an upgrade. The room was clean, however the towel rail electrical connection was exposed, the toilet appears to leak underneath as water pooled next to the wall and the shower head leaked. There must be a crack in the plastic on the shower heads upper surface.

Room cleanliness questionable, photos in the Expedia page don’t reflect the quality of the hotel, it looks like a nice and cost hotel, instead it is a massive and old hotel that needs some renovations.

Shower gel pot was empty - but shampoo pot used instead (these things should be taken care of when the room is prepped for new guests.) Room temperature was unnecessarily warm..even with the control at its lowest setting it was still spewing out warm air..almost too warm to allow sleep. The room had a noticeably odd smell about it - borderline very unpleasant (musty/stale food) - definitely not as it should be.…but for £173 a night in London, I guess you just have to accept these things. At 9am the maid knocked on the door, called out and simultaneously opened up our door before any real attempt was made to see if we were in residence. The wife had to leap out of bed and summarily tell the maid to get lost and come back later. 9am is far too early a time to be expecting guests to be gone from their room, unless you already have clear evidence that that is the case. On the plus side: The shower water pressure was possibly the best ever…and the breakfast was quite good, (other than the fact that there were no bread rolls provided..which was rather odd.). In truth we expected better. We could have complained when we checked out, but all you’d get is “oh I’m really sorry..” (but I couldn’t really give a toss). Next time we’ll go back to the Leonardo - it’s twice the price, but 10 times the quality.

I welcome the upgrade to a suite but despite being beyond their control, the very frequent train noise is an issue. The rooms are tired and I had the previous occupants toiletries left in the shower. Breakfast was a car crash, food ok but far too crowded, hectic and noisy. I know it's a busy hotel but I have stayed at busy hotels before and they have been nothing like this. I would rather skip breakfast and not have the trouble. I note, I have stayed here before and this is always the case with breakfast so I should have known better but they had given me a breakfast voucher this time so didn't want to waste it. I should have still gone out for breakfast.

The room was clean but a little tired, There was a lot of noise from the adjoining room and train line. The staff informed us incorrectly about the bar times, and feel that this spoilt our experience with you. We also were put into a spill over room for breakfast, which when carrying hot food and drinks from one room to another posed a real risk! We don’t feel that we will stay with you again.

The room was clean, a little tired in places. Bathroom was clean and a reasonable size. Hand soap would be an improvement in the bathroom. There was only shower gel. It was extremely hot in the room but after reporting it to reception, a technician came and altered the thermostat.

We had numerous issues with our room, we reported all issues as they came up but maintenance staff were rude and un-interested. When we asked to speak to the manager on check-out to discuss the issues we had, we were told he would not be coming out of the office to the front desk to talk to us. Reception staff did not seem to care & not one person apologised for the issues we encountered during our stay. These issues were: Concierge was rude when taking our luggage on arrival, he opened the store room and said ''I am too busy to wait for you''. No soap provided in the bathroom for washing hands. Lots of hairs in the bath tub on arrival. No hair dryer provided in the room. Asked for one 3 times. Room and air-conditioning unit do not seem to have been updated since the 80s. We could see all the pipes under the unit where there was no carpet. Our last night at the hotel the phone started ringing at 2am, we could not turn it off. We had to take the lead out of the wall in the end to stop it. Staff at reception didn't care when we reported it. The flush handle on the loo didn't work & even came off the wall & cistern wasn't filling. Cold water tap came out boiling hot. Majority of the front desk staff couldn't care less. Very little sleep as District & Circle line trains trattled past the room for the majority of the night and there is not enough soundproofing. Tried to speak with manager on check-out but he refused to come speak to us.

The staff was super nice, but the room was not 4 star standard. Dirty walls, furniture, doors, etc. The bathroom had mold, the door had moisture damage, the wall was covered with MDF boards, plastic curtains. The door to the wardrobe could not be closed. Worn carpet. In addition, the hotel divides the guests by class. They have two different breakfast rooms, where in one they serve a slightly better breakfast to a few. Very strange.
