Customer service is hit and miss. The main dining area is nice but again the food quality is hit and miss the steak was a cheap cut of meat very chewy but the flavour was good. I ordered a brownie which came almost frozen. The spa is a nice facility but they definitely need to have staff management on busier days. The rooms are okay but terrible lumpy pillows and a little dated. I would probably use the facilities if i lived local but not go out of my way to visit Thornton hall it is very basic i would give 3.5 Stars

The hotel is nice, felt clean, if slightly dated. The staff are a credit and very friendly and attentive. The spa is pretty good. The only negative, is whilst reasonably priced for a spa hotel, aside from bottles of water in the rooms, everything is an extra. Robes, slippers or rather sandals all have to be paid for, no little gifts in rooms etc. just feels like they want to sell everything else and it’s not cheap for any extras. Breakfast was nice and plenty of choice, parking excellent, room was comfortable.

For me personally staying on my own i am well looked after and it is nice when staff recognise you. Nothing is too much trouble. I like to come twice a year to relax. I also enjoy having treatments at the spa.

I booked the hotel for the pool. Good size to do laps with but you have to get there early as it gets full as the morning goes. Only stayed the one night but we had a bottle of wine free which was a nice touch. Nice place, not large but fairly enough grounds. No airconditioning in our room but balcony door and window can be opened. Fairly clean room except for the electric fan which probably havent been cleaned for months with the amount of dirts and dust it has accumulated. It was a warm night and we had doubts using it. Attentive, respectful staff. Good breakfast selection and enough parking spaces. You can see cows grazing in the fields nearby. Will probably come back again but I keep remembering the dirty fan…we’ll see.
