The hostel was nice and clean. It is close to Rossio square and walking distance to many attractions. Unfortunately the street outside the hostel is noisy with drinks and is a little sketchy. I felt safe as I was with my partner. I may have felt differently if I was traveling alone.

This hostel was in a very convenient location but can be a bit sketchy at night. We had a late flight and I tried contacting the hostel many times to make arrangements for late check in. The description says to contact them if arriving after hours so they can leave the room key in your room. They did not respond to any of my emails so I got Expedia to call and they were told that we could only check in until 12 am. If after that, they would not let us in. Our flight landed at 10:30 pm so this was very stressful! Had I known this, I wouldn't have booked it. Luckily we got to the hostel at 11:40pm but stood outside in the rain for 15 mins until another guest let us in. Terrible service and communication.

Welcome Hostel is a nice and friendly place. Guests have kitchen and nice terrace outside, clean bathrooms and a friendly staff/ We enjoyed our stay very much.

Perfect location and reasonable price!!

We had a check in around 09:30 PM. It was easy to find a hostel. The main door was open and there where nobody waiting for us, but we found an informative letter. Everything went well. We stayed in a private double room with shared bathroom. Room was clean and nice. The bed is too small especially if you're taller than 160cm or a bit overweight. There is no beauthiful view from windows. Location is perfect! All the common areas are very clean. It's nice to have your own meal and to catch a sun light on the terrace. Sound isolation is poor so it depends what kind of neighbors will you have. Overall it's a quiet cheap place and it's better as I thought it might be.

Stay only if you're broke or desparate

This hostel was a almost a complete disaster. There was only one shared bathroom on the top floor that offered privacy--otherwise you had a sink in the hallway, a toilet and a shower in a closet. Not great to brush your teeth in public while someone is using the toilet two feet away. There was no 24-hour security as advertised and the place is on a sketchy street with people hanging out offering you hashish. I waited outside for 10 minutes with my luggage before anyone let me up. The staff is pleasant, and the place is clean, but very downscale, even for a hostel. They were doing construction at midnight. I checked out two days early.
