This guesthouse has an excellent location, walkable to sights, shops, and restaurants. The well organized kitchen is great and the room generally comfortable. However, we had no idea Rua de Madalena was such a Main Street, and it was NOISY - even with windows and shutters closed. Not easy to sleep. Additionally, like many places in old buildings, they request that toilet paper is placed in a garbage can rather than the toilet. The problem is that this gets stinky. We asked for the garbage to be removed and were told that it would only be done every second day. But despite our request, it did not happen at all during our 3-day stay. Not okay! We saw cleaning staff in the building every day and were very disappointed that they didn’t take 2 minutes to empty our garbage. We would not go back to this guesthouse despite its excellent location and lovely kitchen.

Walkable to a lot of sights, food, and shopping. Lisbon is very hilly and next to two public elevators but I didn’t even use them. Great communication from staff. Only comments are that the hallway and stairwell lighting is very dim and my deluxe double room #1 was IN the main stairwell so I heard people coming and going at all hours of the night as there is no noise insulation. The other rooms are off a hallway behind a door so they are better insulated to traffic.

Pros •Air conditioning worked well: The unit kept the room at a comfortable temperature throughout the stay. •Kind staff member at check-in: Although check-in occurs at a different hotel, the representative who assisted me was extremely kind and welcoming. Cons •Misleading photos: The room looked nothing like what was advertised online. •Filthy floor: The flooring was visibly dirty and unsafe. •Walls in poor condition: Noticeably neglected, damaged, and unmaintained. •Overpowering chemical odor: The property reeked of strong chemicals, making the environment unpleasant. •Pest issue: A large roach was present upon entering, which is entirely unacceptable. •Hazardous debris: My sister had metal lodged in her foot from debris left on the ground, an inexcusable safety risk. •Unsanitary environment overall: The entire property failed to meet even a basic standard of cleanliness. •Inconvenient check-in: Guests must walk uphill to another hotel for check-in, which is highly inconvenient, especially with luggage.

Easy check-in and check-out; able to store our luggage arrived until room available. Also provided area for us to change ( just got off plane) and freshen up. Staff very pleasant. Room clean and beds comfortable. Separate kitchen area for all guests to use

Great location, close to everything. Lots of great restaurants and shops. We did however have an issue with the plumbing. Our first night there, we checked in, showered and left for dinner. When we got back, the room stunk of sewage so badly you could barely stand it and the toilet was blocked. We were unable to use the facilities through the night. They did come the next day and repaired, but the bathroom still had a very foul smell for the remainder of the stay. I will say that the following morning when I called to see if someone was coming to repair, they did offer me the option of another room (if there was one available). We chose to stay in the same room, because we did not feel like moving again. Aside from that issue, everything else was fine.

No lo recomiendo. Las fotos se ven bien, el cuarto es grande pero el edificio es muy viejo y huele terrible. El edificio tiene un olor a caño y humedad que impregna todo el lugar. El staff niega el olor y este no mejora. La limpieza la hacen cada dos días, el lugar es muy ruidoso y no hay señalamientos en la calle para reconocer el hotel. Algo positivo es que nos guardaron las maletas al momento del check out.

The location is great and the air conditioning worked well. However, it is an old building and the plumbing makes a lot of noise at all hours. We discussed the issue with the staff. After checking it out, they acknowledged that the noise was not normal but had no way to fix it.
