Hotel Metropole was the perfect place to stay. Conveniently located in the old part of town, we were withing walking distance to the best streets with shopping. The staff went above and beyond in making sure we had everything we needed. The workers at the reception desk all spoke English well. The breakfasts were good. The only drawback (a small one) was the showers were not the most convenient and we ended up with water on the bathroom floor after every shower. But, if we ever go back, we will definitely stay at Hotel Metropole!!

Excellent location overlooking the main square in Lisbon, great breakfast with coffee they make for you rather than from a machine, with breakfast taken in a lovely room facing the square. Our room had a balcony overlooking the square, which meant there was a bit of noise from the traffic below, so light sleepers may prefer a room at the back.
