Prior to arrival, they contacted me to determine the bedding arrangements. The staff were very friendly from the moment we walked in. We arrived early and they held our bags and brought it up to our room after check in which helped tremendously.
Isabella was very helpful with information when she heard we wanted to go to Sintra for the day. Overall a great experience
Great location and spectacular staff who went over and above to please and make us comfortable. It’s an old but charming property that has been kept up well. Very varied room offerings so pay attention to features you’re looking for in what you book. Lovely breakfast option in a well appointed space that was only recently opened. It’s a great addition. Very central and walkable area near the property.
Nice quiet quaint hotel just minutes from shopping and great restaurants…only drawback no elevator…

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
We really enjoyed Chiado 44. Location was great - we could walk to everything we wanted, and were just a few blocks from the metro. The view can't be beat - my husband sat out on the balcony whenever we were at the room. There is no elevator, which we knew in advance, so not an issue. The only downside is that the building could use updating or refreshing. The stairs were old and not uniform in size, so take care when navigating. Our sink and shower didn't drain properly. Staff were outstanding. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again!
Great Chiado 44!!!!
The room was very good, very nice location.
Isabella, Monica and Bruno were fantastic!!!
Great help with tickets to various historical locations such as Sintra, Pena and Moorish castle / Fortress.
Great location to walk to many historical areas.
If you’re looking for a nice little boutique hotel, Chiado 44 is 4 you!!!
Thank you Isabella, Monica and Bruno.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had a few issues with the AC and TV but staff were quick to resolve. We knew there would be stairs but our room was on the top floor, an amazing 104 steps up. I must admit that I also wondered about fire safety, with the staircase being our only obvious way up or down. The fire extinguishers at the top of the landing weren't really a comfort. But as I said, our room fit our needs: affordable for three, clean, quiet, and a great introduction to Lisbon.
Appears to be a house converted into a boutique hotel. “No frills” in that it has small rooms and no amenities (no lounge/restaurant/breakfast area or fitness center/spa) and forget parking. But it does provide clean (if not spacious) accommodations, chic décor, comfortable bedding, eco-sensible bath products, quality towels, and helpful 24 hr front desk staff. Isabella was a big help when my phone’s WiFi decided not to cooperate when I was trying to order an Uber. Other staff members assisted me with my luggage, which was an absolute necessity for me. I am well aware that elevators are a rarity in many European hotels (unlike the US where they are a given) but this staircase was exceptionally treacherous! It was not only steep and seemed to go on forever but the wooden planks had worn down in certain places so that they were not level. I couldn’t believe that the staff was practically running up and down with our suitcases without faceplanting! On the other hand, the view from this elevation was just as stunning as advertised – just be aware that balconies on these old Portuguese buildings are super narrow – maybe 24 inches – so you don’t have much room to move about and you’ve got to be careful, so go easy on the wine!😊 This hotel would certainly appeal to the young spry crowd but anyone with knee issues or mobility problems in general should stay away!
