Just a short stroll down the drive from the sands of Ligar Bay, Penguin Cottage is a simple, no-frills spot for a laid-back Golden Bay getaway. This is a classic Kiwi bach – a bit rustic, well-loved, and all about easy living rather than modern comforts.



The Space:

The cottage has 3 comfortable bedrooms and all the basics for a relaxed, low-key stay. The kitchen is set up for simple meals, with a benchtop oven, a good fridge/freezer, and a BBQ for easy outdoor cooking. It’s well suited to families, with the beach just a short walk away – a safe, shallow inlet, plenty of space to explore at low tide, and swings under the pōhutukawa trees for the kids. Spend your days at the beach, head out to nearby Tata or Wainui, or enjoy a quiet evening on the deck. It’s simple holiday living – the way it used to be.
