This property has a majestic look on the outside and is set in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. The inside areas including the guest rooms need a complete redo. Everything in the rooms and public areas is old and worn. Repainting and removal of old vents/grates would help tremendously. The hallways have a "dusty/old" odor.

The hotel “looked” great from the outside. But upon entering, looked like a teenager who just swept hurriedly cleaned it. Dust and dirt visibly seen around floor near furniture. Carpet dirty. When we checked into our room, found dog food on the floor. And fitted sheet on king size bed, had either food, blood or other stain right in the center of the bed. Called front desk and they put us in another room but had two queen beds. That room was better, but still had dirty baseboards and terrible smell. When checking out next day, asked if we received a discount for the inconvenience and was told no because we booked through Expedia. Will “NOT” stay again.

At arrival we waited a very long time while the front desk person was behind closed doors speaking to someone. Eventually another staff person came and interrupted her to come out and help a growing line of guests. The tavern needs to get better help as well. Everyone seems unhappy

The room was ok except the balcony door hard to open and NEEDS to be replace. The toilet was slow and total stopped flushing the next morning. We put in a work order the morning of the Oct. 8th but the maintenence man didn't show up till 3:30 or so. He told my wife it was fixed but no change after he left to go home. I contacted the front desk and they called me back and said i would have to charge rooms which would mean we had to load up and move all our belongings again. I told them if we had to load up we would much rather go ahead and go home. (3 hr. Trip) The manager said they would refund the night if we wanted to leave so we did. Its a beautiful hotel with lots of history. It just needs much TLC from Wyndham company.

Staff was very friendly. We’ve stayed before, and the improvements are noticeable and good, but there’s still work to do. Food service was excellent. Food was average. Our room was nicer than last time, but the carpet wasn’t clean. I think the problem was the vacuum cleaner. I spoke to the woman who was cleaning our corridor to help me get rid of some stink bugs in the room. She was very helpful but told me her vacuum cleaner had poor suction, which made it hard to catch the bugs. Not her fault. She was very nice.

The property is impressive in size and design. Not well maintained nor managed. Our rooms were on the second floor. The hall was in obvious needs of painting, wall covering repair and general cleaning. The rooms were small and dark. The in room refrigerator made a terrible noise whenever it was running. There was loud talking in the hallway till after 1AM. I will never stay there again.

There are no activities for kids. The restaurant wa5d a total disappointment. Service.was ok and the food was average at best. They burned my chicken. Don't waste your time eating at the restaurant.

Hotel is hot and musty and feels like could be condemned. Room was not comfortable and very old beds. Breakfast at hotel the worst. Took over an hour to get food which was absolutely terrible. Would have been better going to gas station to food. My room was over 200 dollars and should have been less than 25!
