The house itself was beautiful, very spacious, dog‑friendly, and the backyard was wonderful. The owner even brought us fresh tomatoes from his garden, which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. We really enjoyed spending time outside despite the heat, the ceiling fan kept the space comfortable with a nice breeze. The owner was very responsive, and the location was convenient, just a short 25‑minute drive to the beach. These were definite highlights of our stay.There were, however, several issues that made the experience less enjoyable. There were no hand towels or washcloths provided. When we requested washcloths, the owner brought over cleaning microfibers instead, which wasn’t ideal. We also had some strange problems with the AC—one night, no matter how low we set the temperature, the house remained very hot. It did seem to work better toward the end of the trip.The beds were quite old and uncomfortable. By the end of our stay, all of our backs hurt, and my husband and I sank into the middle of the mattress. While not required, small touches like providing laundry detergent for the washer and dryer would be appreciated.The biggest issue, unfortunately, was the ant infestation. The kitchen in particular was heavily infested—hundreds of ants on the counters, crawling over the coffee pot, and getting into our tea. No matter how much we cleaned or sprayed, it was unmanageable. We had to throw some items away, and we couldn’t leave any food out which sucked.
