## Emplacement
A distinct identity, a renowned seaside resort... Le Barcarès has it all. Surrounded by a pond and the sea, this strip of land was neglected until the 17th century. A few decades later, Le Barcarès boasted a major fishing port and even shipyards where the famous Catalan barque was built. In the 1960s, property developers took over the coastline and turned Barcarès into a renowned seaside resort, with the Lydia as its symbol, washed up on its beaches. This liner, now converted into a museum, discotheque and restaurant, is the fourth oldest liner in the world. Each district has its own character, and you'll love immersing yourself in the atmosphere of each one. From the old village to the Grande Plage, from the Lido to the Port, the changing atmospheres give Barcarès its unique character.
