Cute little place, my new favorite. Easy checkin and slept comfy. Not hot water in hand sink, but that's OK. Towels were on the bed, place was ready for us when we arrived! Easy communication too. Thank you!

This place is hard to review as they are giving you a feel for the “old west “. Shared bathrooms ( mostly ) Loud as it’s next to the Union Pacific main line and the doors loosely shut. They do give you a “white noise machine” and earplugs. It is located in town so you can easily get food and do some shopping. Also, parking is on the street and is paid parking between 10am to 6 pm. No AC also.

This hotel was half the price of other hotels and

The photos online made the room look cute. The room was on the third floor and there was a very steep climb. I knew that the room would be small but, the room was very small with sloping ceilings. I hit my head getting out of bed and on the ceiling. Im 6ft tall. The bed platform is about 4in off the floor, old mattress, not very comfortable. Basically you have to sweat out of bed, onto your knees and not hit your head on the ceiling. The place is carpeted in what look like carpet samples from the 80’s. I have stayed at hotels with shared bathrooms and I have no problem with that. The problem was I was on the third floor and the bathroom was on the second floor. Getting up in the middle of the night and climbing down a flight of stairs has no fun. I was on a motorcycle and parking is practically nonexistent. Basically. They tell you to find parking were you can.
Only one room in the 3rd floor. The bathroom is on the second floor.

There was a train track right in front of the hotel with train horns going at night. The facility offered ear plugs and white noise makers, which helped.

West River House was a pleasant surprise. It has a hostel vibe. The room was clean and the bed / pillows are very comfortable. We were most impressed with the detailed instructions for everything including parking, shower use, check in and checkout. We enjoyed the balcony as well. The location was great for us as we came to ride bikes and enjoy Truckee Thursday.

The room did not have any air conditioning instead they had a very loud fan and with the window open I heard every loud noise which caused me to lose sleep. With the weather and the conditions we’re going to be the same I decided to leave a day early. The property was very clean and unique.
