Welcome to Bernese's Bungalow!

Winter fun awaits at Bernese's Bungalow! This 4-bedroom, 2-bath home sits in the lower half of Tahoe Donner, just 10 minutes from downtown Truckee and Donner Lake and 20 minutes from north Lake Tahoe. Come in through the mud room to the great room, with two sitting areas: one centered on the gas fireplace and another around the flat-screen TV with a DVD player and streaming device. Updated hardwood floors make it a cozy place to warm up after a day out in the snow.

The remodeled kitchen is ideal for hearty après-ski meals, with a dining table that seats 6 and a breakfast bar that seats 4. A queen bedroom with a desk and full-size closet and a shared bath are on the main floor. Upstairs, the king and queen bedrooms have vaulted ceilings and lots of windows for plenty of natural light. Designed with families and groups in mind, the upstairs also has a spacious bunk room with two twin bunks and plenty of space for kids to hang out, plus a shared bath with a double-sink vanity. The laundry room has a full-size washer and dryer.

This is a great family-friendly cabin close to Truckee. Our 3 generation family of 9 enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner there. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our dinner and to store our leftovers. There were plenty of games for all to play and a dusting of snow to enjoy outside. Our two grand-dogs were welcomed which made the trip that much more enjoyable. We hope to return.

Kitchen, common area was very inviting to hangout and play cards as well as a mat for the dog bowls. My dog absolutely loved to hang out on the deck with us, the only issue with the deck is there wasn’t a railing for my elderly mother to use to go up/down the stairs. Parking was a bit challenging if you have multiple cars, parking is not allowed on the street, we had to play musical cars a few times to get the car out of the garage.

Great property

This house suited our needs perfectly. If I had one suggestion it would be that additional clothes hanging space be installed. One bedroom had no closet, another bedroom’s closet was locked shut, the 3rd bedroom’s closet rod/shelf was laying on the floor. We could have utilized the coat closet by the front door but it’s very inconvenient. We all had clothes to hang as we were in Truckee for a wedding. Other than that, the place was great.

Nice Place to Stay

This property is up to date and recently renovated. It has all the accommodations you could ask for to prepare your own meals, bedding, and towels. The only thing I wish it had was TVs in the bedrooms. But that aside it has a lot of board games to play instead. We will be coming back.

Awesome after quarantine vacay

The house was perfect it had everything we needed and the view to the backyard was so relaxing. We had our two dogs and 2 toddlers with us and they had a blast In that backyard. Neighbors were really nice and it was very quiet and peaceful. Will definitely love to come back again.
