Absolutely wonderful!

We had the best time staying at Captain's Lookout! The house is cozy and the view is stunning! Would stay here again 100%!

Aspects of this property are wonderful - the view of the lake is stunning, and the house itself is rustic, modern and functional. And the surrounding town has good restaurants. However, before booking, it is worth noting there are limitations/sanitation concerns of the property due to the fact that it’s in a very rural and isolated area. The host was fast to respond with each issue which was highly appreciated.1) Low resources for fixing broken appliances- the hot tub was broken before we arrived to the property, and the refrigerator broke down for one night during our stay- it was communicated that due to being so rural/isolated it is hard to get a handy man on site. This is why the hot tub was broken prior to our visit and stayed broken throughout the duration of our stay- luckily, the refrigerator started to work again, but if not the solution was to move our food to the host’s office (miles away). Certain foods inside did get temperature damaged.2) Mice- there are mouse traps throughout cabinets within the house- we saw two mice: one upstairs and one downstairs. We did not see any mouse droppings.- the communicated solution was that they will put more mouse traps in the house, but that it should be somewhat expected that they are there given the rural nature of the house’s environment

Disappointed!!

This booking had good reviews, said it was newly updated and we were so disappointed and grossed out when we got there! What they updated was nice, but the carpet and dirty deck and grill outside, took away from all that. Carpet looked like a frat party happened, we didn’t want to walk on it barefoot. The Towels were stained, and damp. The grill and deck were so dirty we couldn’t use.! It had a beautiful view, but the deck is so uninviting, we just didn’t want to sit out there. A plus was The property manager was excellent, responded right away. Spending $2000 on this place was what got us. Really needs new flooring, new towels, and a power washing on The deck. New inviting patio furniture to celebrate that asset!! That’s the shining thing. That view. We felt like we were staying at our parents, who couldn’t afford to fix these minor things. We are paying you!! You are renting it out for a lot!! We want to enjoy ourselves.
