"This cabin is a fantastic getaway. It is close to hiking, fishing, and a 1.5 mile walk to central Cuchara, with mini-golf and pickleball/tennis. The deck is absolutely magical with beautiful views of West Spanish peak's changing colors at sunset and sunrise over East Spanish peak. It is quiet, peaceful place to listen to the hummingbirds and watch the golden-mantled ground squirrels play. It backs up on national forest so plenty of room to hike around from the house and for kids to play.The owners are easy to ask questions of and super responsive. The cabin is in great shape and kept very clean. The beds are really comfortable. There are plenty of linens and towels.One caveat is that it is a 1970s vintage pan-abode cabin so set your expectations accordingly. There is one bathroom, would could be tight if you had lots of people in the three bedrooms. No air conditioning but we found it was cool at night and a nice cross-breeze if you open the windows (there are screens). There is also no laundry but easy to use the clean and accessible laundromat in La Veta. We relied on our phones for internet with a strong cell signal.We love this place and look forward to returning!"
