## Emplacement
A must-see destination, La Rochelle has plenty to charm visitors. The omnipresent ocean is the city's symbol, sweeping visitors' nostrils with its spray. Old stones also have their say in this landscape bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, where low-lying coasts, sheer cliffs and sandy shores alternate. International trade has given rise to a unique architectural mix, with a variety of influences from across the seas.
