The room was very spacious. The beds were nice plenty of blankets. The shower was clean. The view from the room was amazing. The parking is a little far away. You definitely need a vehicle or use their transportation to get back to the Hot Springs or the restaurant. The Hot Springs at the very top are very hot and they’re very nice the further down you go the more commercialized it becomes which is good for children or partying people who want a swim u bar. The food in the main restaurant at night was not very good I would recommend just grabbing a burger or pizza at the pool bar.. the included buffet breakfast in the morning was really good. Finally, I believe you can arrive early on the day of your check-in and you can stay as late as 10 PM on the day of your check out to enjoy the Hot Springs. I wish we had known that we probably would’ve come earlier.

Hotel Los Lagos Spa & Resort is a beautiful and relaxing property near Arenal Volcano. The grounds are lush, expansive, and well maintained, and the views of the volcano from the pools and walkways are stunning, especially in the mornings. The resort truly feels immersed in nature. The thermal hot spring pools were the highlight of our stay. There are multiple pools at different temperatures, and the swim-up bar was a nice bonus. The spa and overall atmosphere make it a great place to unwind. The rooms were clean and spacious, though more rustic than modern, which fits the natural setting. One thing to note is that the room doors have a noticeable gap underneath, which does allow bugs to come in. While this wasn’t shocking given the jungle environment and “nature-forward” experience, it’s something guests should be aware of. The resort property is large, so be prepared for quite a bit of walking. That said, this was actually one of the positives — there are plenty of paths where you can see wildlife, birds, and enjoy the surrounding nature right on the property. Breakfast was included and decent, with fresh fruit and traditional Costa Rican options. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. One major downside: I was charged $60 for a guest who was only visiting for a few hours, which felt completely unreasonable for a mid-range resort in Costa Rica. This policy was disappointing and not clearly communicated upfront

Staff from reception, housekeeping, shuttles, restaurant and bar all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding from fresh omelette station to hot and cold options. Room was great enjoyed wildlife from our patio every day. Hot springs and pools were clean and not overcrowded. Saw monkeys, iguanas, wild pigs, cows, horses and tons of beautiful birds throughout the property.

The hot springs and landscaping were fantastic! Several pools at various a temperatures and beautiful, picturesque, views everywhere you look. Very kid friendly. The restaurant had decent food and was reasonably priced. The wet (swim up) bar had reasonably priced drinks. Short walking trails with a few animals. Great volcano views at the viewpoint by the lake. No butterfly garden. Didn’t do any of the hotel activities like horseback riding or zip lining. Rooms were okay. Clean, but sparsely decorated, basic, and for the price we expected something more premium.

The room was old and dated, though it did have a beautiful mountain view. Unfortunately, the staff seemed worn out and disengaged, and service felt indifferent throughout the stay. The resort did not feel like an authentic Costa Rica experience—more of a tourist trap with overpriced food and souvenirs. In contrast, Chachagua Rainforest Hotel was outstanding, offering genuine Costa Rican culture and excellent, welcoming staff.

Great "bang for your buck"! We were so happy with our big room, nice and clean. We spent one night but had two full days in the hot springs. The breakfast was delicious and the views to the volcano were stunning. We were very pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay again!
