Hotel The Mitsui was a phenomenal hotel. The amenties, design, and cleanliness were truly standout. The private onsen was lovely. The attentiveness and knowledge of the hotel staff really is top notch. The Japanese style breakfast was beautifully presented. This is one of the best urban hotels I’ve ever stayed in Japan or Europe. I will definitely be returning when I come back to Kyoto. I highly recommend this hotel.

Outstanding hotel — the best of my Japan trip HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO delivered an exceptional stay from start to finish. The team is highly professional, and the hotel beautifully reflects Kyoto’s historical atmosphere—especially through the staff’s traditional attire and the stunning garden. During my trip to Japan, I stayed in five hotels from well-known brands, and this property exceeded all of them in every aspect. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, in all areas including room cleanliness and organization, customer service (amazing), a quiet room, relaxed atmosphere, excellent breakfast (Japanese or American, served at the table, plus an extensive buffet, all items fresh and delicious. Location is amazing, 5m walk to a metro station and right across the street from Nijojo castle which was one of the best things we have seen in Japan.
