Summary:

Settle into the shade of your corner-unit lanai and watch the surf, open sky, and occasional sea life move across the view. This one-bedroom Kuhio Shores condo is designed for two, just steps from Lawai Beach and its popular snorkeling and surf break. The open living area, full kitchen, and 854 square feet give a couple room to slow down between South Shore adventures. Poipu Beach Park and Brennecke's Beach are a short drive away for sandier swimming, while Kukui'ula has groceries, restaurants, and a farmers market when dinner plans call. Back at the building, shared grills and laundry add useful ease. Please note that this home has no air conditioning, sits adjacent to Lawai Road, and the building has an upcoming exterior painting project that may affect some reserved dates. It is a lovely choice for a couple who want the ocean close and the rest of Poipu within easy reach.



The Space:

This 854-square-foot corner unit gives two guests an open plan and a shady lanai with an expansive ocean outlook. The living area has a sectional and 42-inch smart TV, while the full kitchen includes a high-top glass table for four. The bedroom's wicker furnishings and cedar-lined closets add island character. There is no air conditioning; ceiling fans and the coastal setting help the space stay breezy.

The Neighborhood:

Kuhio Shores sits on Kauai's sunny South Shore beside Lawai Beach, where the reef, surfers, and passing sea life make the shoreline part of the day. Poipu Beach Park and Brennecke's Beach are a short drive for sandy swimming and family beach time. Head toward Kukui'ula for groceries, restaurants, and a farmers market, or wander nearby Prince Kuhio Park. This is Poipu for guests who want to wake up close to the water, then explore at their own pace.



Getting Around:

Lihue Airport is about 30 to 40 minutes away, a pretty drive across Kauai's south shore. A rental car is recommended to reach Poipu's beaches, Koloa town's shops, and nearby dining with ease. Old Koloa Town is walkable for boutiques and restaurants, while beautiful beaches are just a short drive away. Parking is generally available on site or in small lots around town.

The location of the condo is wonderful! It is close to many shops and restaurants. There are a lot of great sidewalks for running and walking. I also enjoyed the view as the condo as it is right on the ocean. The lack of air conditioning was not a problem since we visited in winter. We were able to sleep with the sliding door open each night to get a nice breeze and hear the waves crashing outside our door. However, I don’t think I would rent this condo in the other seasons as it seems it would be too warm to sleep comfortably at night.The condo is in decent condition. It could use some TLC with damaged drywall in the bathroom around the tub, a screen door that doesn’t open and close smoothly, and baseboards that could use repainted. I wanted to stay in a condo so that I could cook my own breakfasts each morning, but the pots and pans leave a lot to be desired.Overall, a good experience and I would stay here again.

Overall this was a good place to stay. It was very clean, right beside the ocean, great location to see all the sites and restaurants, and the owners have tried to make everything easy with supplies and extras - like beach chairs, plenty of detergents, paper towels, etc. it was a good bed with choice of pillows, too. I will say it does need a little attention to a few details. Drywall in the bathroom, baseboard painting, a screen door that will not lock or slide easily, and although the sofa is very nice - the humidity has given it a musty moldy smell that in the heat of the day is very noticeable. We were here in the shoulder season of April, and the cement walls hold the heat. (I lived in Hawaii before and visited many other condos on Kauai but feel this one is a bit warmer with less air flow than most). We were able to sleep with the provided fans blowing directly on us but I can’t imagine August here. A room cooler or A/C that plugs in would go a long way in the bedroom. Overall, I would say 8 out of 10 but with a little upkeep and a plug in room cooler it could easily be a 9 or 10.

Beautiful place in a beautiful location. Pretty much every beach was within a 5 mins drive. Our only complaint was no AC, which we knew when we were booking, we just thought it would be a little more manageable.. If you do okay in a humid climate, you'll be okay, but it was kind of rough for us.

The place was easy to locate, appreciate the side note of not to park under the trees as the car will get covered in bird poo, the place was as the photos appear and is listed. We loved our view the best. My only suggestion would be since this stay does not have air conditioning that it has better working ceiling fans and a better working standing fan to help the air flow. Other than that our stay was amazing. Thank you
