This hostel felt like it was built in an old warehouse. The public space was tidy, and the servce was as good as you can expect in Japan.
However, the photos don't show it all. Even though the walls seem tidy in their white colour, the ceiling has been left as it is โ plain concrete with some pipe ends here and there. On top of all this, there is no proper sound insulation. You can clearly hear the sounds from the street, people walking down the corridor, even the person the guy in the next room is talking to over the phone. The walls are paper, so don't expect to have any privacy.
Very modern, industrial styling that looks pretty cool. Had a private room but it was clean and comfortable, had 2x hooks and hangers and storage for suitcase. Would have been perfect with a mirror. Bathrooms also very trendy industrial looking but spacious, modern and clean - shower could do with more hooks! Lots of lounging areas and you can use the dining area too which is more like a trendy bar than hostel. Only about 10 mins walk from Kokura station, lots of shops and markets nearby and of course Kokura castle and park. Only negatives were that the kitchen is small - no stove or electric kettle (only hotplate), also to get to the bathroom you have to go via the kitchen and lounge area which is awkward. But the staff are lovely, friendly and inclusive and I had a relaxing time there.

There were some meetings in their cafeteria area almost every night when I stayed there. So when I was in the kitchen which is located right next to their meeting or whatever, it was really awkward and uncomfortable. I could not feel free.
