Resort fees without resort amenities.

What we liked: Big shower, nice staff What we didn’t like: Very small room, no water pressure, large gap in door to outside(plenty of room for bugs to join us in the room), tight parking. No servicing of room during a three day stay. One night it rained and we waded ankle deep in water to the car. Can’t figure out what we paid a resort fee for!

My son and his girlfriend drove down for a quick weekend and the keys and stayed here. They loved that they could walk everywhere from their hotel. It was super convenient to everything they wanted to do and they said they would stay there again.

Good budget stay in convenient location

As far as key west is concerned, this is a great budget hotel and easy walking to most places touristy. We based our stay here on using the e scooters on site to get around and had all kinds of issues which was unfortunate. The breakfast included was great. I do have an odd charge to follow up on with the hotel

This was my 2nd time at Southwinds and it did not disappoint. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. Location is great. They even provided early check in at no additional cost.

The staff was kind, not the issue. The room I booked did not look like the room I got. Everything was severely outdated. The shrubbery getting into the room was blocking portions of the door, not just my room but others too. There was nowhere to sit because the two chairs that were in there are badly soiled. There’s a sticker on the mirror stating to conserve the environment only towels that we put on the floor will be cleaned. The towels that were hung up were shredded and looked like someone has been using them so my daughter didn’t feel comfortable showering in there. There was also bugs in the bathroom. The breakfast they offer are expired muffins and pastries that were hard. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging over $200 for a night in a place like this.

The reviews for this motel were great so I had no worries when I booked it. But it’s fair to say this place is incredibly tired and run down. the exterior of the motel is in need of some tlc, and I hoped that it was only the exterior that was tired. Whilst the rooms were huge, they were badly in need of renovating, there were cracked and peeling walls, and very dated and tired furniture. Whilst it appeared superficially clean it needed a good deep clean. Although we booked 3 nights we left after 2 as we really didn’t feel comfortable here. It could be beautiful if renovated, but with the half hearted staff we saw, I can’t see any changes happening any time soon.
