Location was excellent! Parking in the garage was convenient but getting to the room was awful. Using the elevators was difficult and inconvenient. The layout was crazy! Housekeeping kept everything very clean. They come in every day. However, one day they left our door unlocked and cracked open. Open for anyone to come in. There are no surveillance cameras that I observed. We got back late at night. This is a huge safety concern, not just the fact that all of our valuables could have been stolen. The beds are also very stiff/ firm and the blanket is not thick enough if it is cold out. The ac/ heat unit did not work that well.

From the minute we pulled up to the Opal to check in till we left the property days later we were greeted and treated like royalty. The property was extremely clean & well maintained. The staff were the best we've ever encountered. The Opal pulled out all the holiday decoration stops. All the palms & landscaping were lit up creating a magical atmosphere. The location next to the cruise port may have been it's only detractor; not because of the additional people milling about each day but because of the ships departure times. There is a stunning roof top bar which was made for watching the amazing sunsets in Key West. When the ships depart after 5 it can block the views. That said we cannot wait to visit the Opal again soon.

The Opal is in a prime spot in Key West. You can pretty much walk to everything in old town. I have stayed in this property for many years under different owners and Opal has done a spectacular job on the refurbishment. Can't wait to stay again. Don't miss Elevate for the sunset!
