My wife and I live upstairs with our 5 yrs old son. We have sound insulation between the floors, and the apartment is above our bedrooms; however, you are still likely to hear everyday family sounds.
There is no smoking in the apartment or anywhere in the garden. As we live upstairs and don`t want the smoke smell in or around the house. If you are a smoker, you may want to consider staying somewhere else.
We have a dog, but it is separated from your access by a fence. If you do meet them, they are super-friendly, well-socialised fox terriers.
You have access to the apartment from your own off-street parking space through the back garden. You are free to enjoy the front garden, which leads over to the lookout. The only restricted area is through the black gate next to the apartment front door (about a 5th of the garden), where our dog can go outside.
A car is recommended to get to the apartment and around. We are located on the edge of the escarpment 4kms from Katoomba. There is a local bus from 700 metres away.
