One of the few condos at Keauhou Punahele with air conditioning in every room. Ground floor on the 8th fairway of Kona Country Club, with your own grill on a private lanai that faces the sunset. Sleeps six, and all six can be adults: a California king suite, a queen room, a sofa bed and two full baths. Beach chairs, boogie boards and snorkel gear are waiting, plus $50 toward a treatment at Asana Spa.

Welcome to The Salty Mermaid
A ground-floor, 1,200 square foot 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo on the 8th fairway of Kona Country Club in Keauhou. The lanai is yours: a private grill, a view down the fairway toward the Pacific, and a front-row seat for the sunset.

Cool inside
Air conditioning in every room, which only a few condos in the complex have, plus a ceiling fan in every room and almost no road noise.

Room for six adults
A California king memory foam bed in the primary suite with a walk-in closet, a memory foam queen in the second bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living room. Two full bathrooms, so six people aren't waiting on one shower. Full-size washer and dryer.

A kitchen worth using
Remodeled with KitchenAid appliances and a Keurig, set up for real cooking. Our property managers can stock the kitchen before you arrive at $65 an hour.

Ready for the beach
Beach chairs, towels, boogie boards, snorkel gear, an umbrella and a soft-sided cooler. Kahaluʻu Beach Park, one of the island's best snorkel spots, is a few minutes away.

Golf, pickleball and tennis
The lanai looks straight down the 8th fairway of Kona Country Club's Ocean Course, a par-72 course with ocean views and lava rock along the holes. Book tee times online or with the Pro Shop, and the welcome book has the details. Hōlua Racquet & Paddle is about a 10-minute walk away, next to Outrigger Kona Resort, with 20 pickleball courts (8 lit) and 7 lit tennis courts, and visitors are welcome. Pack your paddle: drop-in pickleball runs mornings and evenings most days.

Getting in
Two ways in: a flight of stairs from the parking lot to the front door, or a pathway from the side of the building right to the lanai doors, which guests in wheelchairs have used.

Relaxing, fabulous and the best vacation we have ever had!

Our family of five arrived Christmas Day and enjoyed The Big Island until January 7th. The condo was our home away from home! The location was great with a private parking spot. The condo is well equipped with comfy beds, washer and dryer, huge fridge/freezer, a bbq, great outdoor area, beach towels and chairs as well as sand toys. Pool and hot tub were great as well and our three girls had fun swimming! Communication was great and quick. We would not change a thing and we are already planning another stay!

Affordable and Exceptional

This rental looked too good to be true with the price point it was listed at, but it still managed to blow away expectations! The owners went above and beyond to make sure we knew everything there was to do here, and that we were comfortable doing so. This really did feel like a home away from home. The accommodation for kids were amazing, making this an extremely family friendly location. Any communication with the property manager was always promptly answered with a very short turnaround time. Overall, I was extremely impressed and would definitely stay at the Salty Mermaid again!!

Terrific Condo Complex

Had a wonderful one month stay in unit B103 which is situated where the views of the sunset are spectacular and where some cool breezes off the ocean keep you comfortable. The condo is well appointed, updated (master bathroom is superb), and has a huge lanai with a barbeque (most other condo complexes have public spaces for fixing your meal). The grounds are well maintained and the foliage while we were there was pretty much in full bloom. There is also a large pool which I used almost daily in the afternoon (after golf). There are a number of rules regarding what you can take to the pool, how old you have to be to use the hot tub, etc. I did not find this troubling as many of the units are owner occupied and one needs to remember then that this is not a hotel. OK for kids as long as a parent does minimal supervision. All in all I would just say that the place has a great vibe, nice people around you, and I plan to return next year.

Exceptional!!

Extremely clean, well appointed with many extras. Right on the golf course with views of the ocean. Close to the Sheraton for many other amenities like luaus, fine dining on the oceanfront, a spa, and other adventures that can be booked. Highly recommend!

Perfect Big Island Holiday Condo!

We stayed for 2 weeks in October, was a great condo, anything you needed was available within the condo, fully equipped kitchen, coffee machine, beach gear etc. Walking distance to the Sheraton and very short drive to shopping area. It was a great base to explore the Island and only a 15-20 min drive to Kona. We also used the Sheraton trolley shuttle, $2 per trip, kids loved it! I would recommend this condo, and would definitely stay there again. Does not have AC, but the condo stays cool being ground floor and plenty of ceiling fans. The outdoor area is great to chill out! The pool area is perfect for adults and children.

HORRIBLE

The first day we were there the on site manager starts telling us the kids can't make noise at the pool or play any games or bring any toys.It was not a kid friendly place when we were at the pool we had to tell the kids to keep it down like we were at the library. Also the second day the toilet was not working it took 5 days for them to fix it. It should say adults only like we saw other places saying. We would NEVER stay at this property again or recommend it to anyone.Once we got home we get an email that we might owe almost $700.00 because of the toilet breaking and the knob for the kitchen sink cabinet came off they just need to screw it back on. We took insurance out in case of anything happening and the property manager is wanting to charge us and filed a claim with the insurance so their trying to double dip. Jessica one of the property managers was very argumentative and blaming us for the toilet not working by saying they just had a family there and it worked but that's not true because her husband came to fix the toilet after 5 days and told my husband that they just had to replace the pump.DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! I only gave one star because it wouldn't let me submit it otherwise if so I would give no stars.
