The Space:

Casamia is modern desert living pared to its essentials, set on 2.27 acres in a quiet pocket of Joshua Tree. Clean architectural lines, a dark exterior, block walls and expansive glass frame the desert and distant mountains, and large sliding doors open the interiors to the covered terrace, pool, hot tub, private pickleball court, dining areas and fire pit. Inside, a restrained palette warms up with a cognac leather sofa, orange dining chairs and green kitchen cabinetry. Three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms include a king primary whose shower looks out through a floor-to-ceiling window, and two queen rooms that share a hall bath. -Outdoor Amenities-

Morning light is the time for the private pickleball court, with the mountains lined up past the far baseline. Grab the paddles, play a few games, then cool off in the pool. Sun loungers line the water against a broad desert panorama, so the afternoon can be nothing more than reading, swimming and reading again.



When the heat breaks, the covered terrace takes over, with lounge seating, a built-in BBQ and a long outdoor dining table under a sculptural light fixture. Linger over dinner as the mountains change color, then pull an Adirondack chair up to the fire pit or slip into the hot tub as the sky fills with stars.



-Living Area-

Floor-to-ceiling glass fills the living room with desert light, and large sliding doors lead straight out to the pool and covered patio. Sink into the cognac leather sofa, put a playlist on the Sonos sound system or a film on the smart TV, and watch the desert go blue through the glass. The interiors pair sculptural modern design with a comfortable, understated feel.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully stocked designer kitchen, with green cabinetry and an island lined with stools, is a natural gathering place for everything from simple breakfasts to celebration dinners. It opens to the living and dining areas, so the cook stays part of the conversation. The indoor table, set with orange chairs beside the glass wall, and the outdoor table each seat the whole group, and the covered terrace with its built-in BBQ is right outside the sliding doors.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The primary suite pairs a king bed with a wide window to the desert and an ensuite with a sculptural glass vanity and a large walk-in shower behind a floor-to-ceiling window, so your morning shower comes with a view.

The two additional bedrooms each have a queen bed, with patio doors and bold art above the beds, and share a hallway bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. A half bathroom near the main living area is handy while you are gathering indoors or out.

Joshua Tree Village has independent shops, dining, coffee and galleries, and the West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park makes early hikes and sunset drives easy. Yucca Valley has groceries and dining, and the Integratron and Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown are good outings.

Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Please note that Casamia is in a remote location, and the final stretch to the home is on dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.



Other Things to Note:

-House-Specific Rules-

► Please keep music at a reasonable volume and turn it off by the start of quiet hours.

► Please rinse off oils and lotions before entering. Glassware and drinks are not permitted in the hot tub. Please replace the cover whenever the hot tub is not in use, as windblown desert debris can get into the water.



-Pool Heating Fee-

Should you wish to have the pool heated to 85 degrees, please notify us in advance of your arrival, as there will be a supplemental charge per day for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you'd like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.

During the winter months, please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures may cause the pool to feel cooler than its maintained temperature of 85°F. We kindly ask that you ensure this temperature meets your comfort level before submitting a request, as refunds cannot be issued on this basis.



-Pool Heating Details-

In summer, the pool cover generally keeps the water comfortably warm, so heating is not usually needed. If heating is requested for multiple days, the dates must be consecutive. Because of the pool's size, colder winter conditions may keep the water from going above 85°F, even with heating on.



-Hot Tub Heating-

No fee to heat the hot tub! Please note that because the hot tub is an in-ground hot tub, it is not heated constantly in order to conserve energy. It will take around 30 minutes to heat to 104 degrees from ambient temperature.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The pool and hot tub are serviced weekly on Fridays, which may fall during your stay. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

Pets are not permitted at this property. Unauthorized pets will result in a $500 fee.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
