Summary:
A mountainside of boulders rises just past the back fence at Boulders Beyond, close to downtown Joshua Tree, and the whole yard plays out beneath it. Start with pickleball while it's cool, give the afternoon to the pool and its in-water loungers, then trade the barrel sauna for the hot tub as string lights come on over the pavilion. Five bedrooms on 2.5 acres sleep twelve, with a guest house game room for the rematch. Bring your most competitive friends.
The Space:
Boulders Beyond sits at the foot of a rugged mountainside of monumental boulders, and that rock wall gives the fully fenced backyard real privacy and unmistakable Joshua Tree character. Inside, the remodeled main house keeps things relaxed: leather sofas around the fireplace, a round dining table under a chandelier and sliders that open toward the pavilion. Four bedrooms and two bathrooms fill the main house, and a detached guest house adds a fifth bedroom, a third bathroom and the game room, so families and friend groups have room to spread out. Pick teams early. Between the court, the pool table and the shuffleboard, someone will want a rematch.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The backyard is where Boulders Beyond comes alive. A wall of boulders rises just past the fence line, so every swim and every point on the pickleball court comes with the mountainside as a backdrop. Play a few games in the morning while the air is cool. By afternoon the stone-edged pool and its fountains take over: claim one of the four chaise loungers, or settle onto an in-pool lounger and stay put.
The wood pavilion is the yard's second living room, with lounge seating, the outdoor dining table, the propane BBQ and the barrel sauna beneath its beams. When the string lights come on, gather at the propane fire pit beside the pool, then slip into the built-in hot tub, heated at no charge. Hammocks hang along the fence for a slow hour with a book, and cornhole is ready whenever someone calls next game. The pool's separate safety gate has been removed, so please supervise children closely throughout the outdoor area.
Because the surrounding boulders carry and amplify sound, this is a property for peaceful enjoyment. Outdoor music is not permitted, and we ask that voices and activity stay at a respectful level.
-Living Area-
Come in from the yard and sink into the leather sofas facing the fireplace, where a wall-mounted TV is ready for movie night and the whole group fits without anyone feeling crowded. Macrame curtains frame the view out to the pavilion. A dedicated workspace and high-speed Wi-Fi are there for the morning you need to check in.
Across the yard, the detached guest house is the second place to play. Rack up a game of pool, slide a few shuffleboard pucks or start a foosball tournament, with open floor space left over for yoga or a slow stretch.
-Kitchen and Dining-
Patterned tile, woven pendants and open shelving give the kitchen an easy desert warmth. Pop a pod in the Keurig at the coffee station, pull a leather stool up to the island and keep the cook company while breakfast comes together. Cookware, dishes, utensils and everyday essentials are all here for shared dinners. Eat at the round dining table between the kitchen and living room, or carry plates out to the pavilion, where the outdoor table and propane BBQ sit with the boulders in view.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Boulders Beyond sleeps up to 12 guests across five bedrooms and six beds. Bedroom 1 pairs a king bed with an ensuite bathroom, double vanity and glass shower, so whoever is up first can get ready without waking the house. Bedroom 2 has a king bed under a sunburst headboard, with woven pendants on either side and a wall-mounted TV. Bedroom 3 fits two queen beds for friends or siblings, and Bedroom 4 has a queen bed with a lamp on each side. Bedroom 5 sits in the detached guest house, with a queen Murphy bed and rattan headboard, a private full bathroom with a patterned tile shower and its own exterior entrance, giving part of your group a place of their own.
The main house has two bathrooms, one ensuite to the primary bedroom, and the guest house holds the third full bathroom.
