This place looked a bit shady at first site, but the inside was very nicely decorated and clean! The welcome water and snacks were a great added bonus! The motel is walkable to a few restaurants as well. Good stay for one night!

This was no Ritz Carlton, nor would I stay at one, but what this place was…comfortable and homey. Best nights sleep in a motel/hotel ever! Staff was friendly and there’s a spot for you to hang out by the fire with your dog while smoking some meat on the Traeger! I’ll definitely be back..next time with my doggo!

This motel has been updated since the last time we visited. So clean and excellent helpful associates. The ONLY con, is the air conditioner unit is SO loud it's almost impossible to sleep with it on and the night we stayed it was too hot not to have it on.

Cute old motel that looks freshly painted. The room smelled like bleach, which gave me a bit of a headache but also some confidence that it was clean. Didn't love the fragranced laundry products used on the sheets. Overall, nice place for a quick overnight while passing through this cute town.

The John Day Motel doesn’t pretend to be anything more than it is: a friendly, reasonably priced place to stay staffed by very nice people. It’s an older facility but well kept. After a long day of driving we were in need of a good shower and a comfortable bed - we found both at the John Day Motel! Little things like the bottles of water and snack basket in the room along with ear plugs if it got too noisy (it didn’t!) just added to the charm of the place. It’s also a short walk to several restaurants and other shops. We will definitely stay here again when our travels take us to that area. Only 13 rooms so making a reservation is probably a good idea!

We really enjoyed our stay here. I am a light sleeper and based on reviews about there being some noise I requested a room on the second floor. They gave us the room furthest from the road on the second floor which was more than I’d asked! Overall the place was cute, clean, roomy, and felt safe. We walked a couple of blocks into town for dinner each night and got a discount at the 1188 pub because we stayed here. My only complaint is the shower looked stained/not very clean - and the rubber mat to put down in the shower was a bit sticky like it was worn out. But the water pressure was great, water hot, and towels clean. We would stay here again and recommend it!
