Lively place and perfect for a night near the airport. Directions to the shuttle were easy to follow and the pick up and drop off worked perfectly. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the grounds are lovely. The only thing a little less good was dinner. A lot of carbs and not especially nice. No good choices for kids, so we ended up ordering in, which was fine. For breakfast we left too early and they were great in preparing breakfast packs for each of us.

The staff was very communicative and help me resolve an issue with my booking when Expedia couldn’t. They picked my family up directly from the airport because our flight got in late and they even made us sandwiches because everything was closed. The facility was beautiful overall and the staff went over the top to be helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was just excellent, I’ve never had food so good.

The hotel staff were incredible, sent me a whats app before my arrival with clear instructions on the transfer and driver. The property is immaculately kept, with pretty gardens. The room was basic, but very confortable. The dinner (additional cost) was delicious, home cooked dishes, as well as dessert included. Breakfast was included in the rate, and as I was leaving early the staff organised take away breakfast for me, sandwiches, snacks, fruit and juice. All the food was fantastic. For the low price I paid for this one night stay, it far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend sun rock.

Perfect pitstop pre-flight.

The staff were friendly and welcoming at all stages. The room was big, very clean and with a comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style., with breakfast eggs cooked freshly to order. There’s a firepit, which is nice to sit round with a beer in the evening and there is also a bar and hot drinks also available. The place feels very secure and the gardens are full of lovely flowers. The pool is a reasonable size and very clean. There is noise from the airport which is only about 2km away but there are no overnight flights so your sleep isn’t disturbed. This was a really nice place to stay before flying out of JNB. It’s possible also to arrange tours from here. The team were also really accommodating about a late checkout (this is charged according to duration of stay). Highly recommended.

An Oasis in J’burg call Sunrock Guesthouse

Let’s begin with the beauty of the oasis of Sunrock itself and the people: First, came Testimony, who was our shuttle driver, who picked us up from the airport with a dazzling smile. Then we were greeted by Jackie, the assistant manager, at reception. How many places have you ever stayed where you arrived at 8:00 am, and were given an early check in as soon as the cleaning of the room could be completed? Jackie, and Letty, the other receptionist couldn’t be more helpful with anything and I mean anything. They do it all and with smiles. Today, before we checked out, we asked if they had laundry facilities, and Jackie, said, “Yes, give it to me.” They will even do laundry for you! Cheap. Did I mention the food? Nope. Let me tell you about last night’s dinner. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten as much during a Thanksgiving feast, nor as delectable. Kudos to all the chefs and kitchen staff. If I had only known about this place beforehand I would have made this my mini vacation. I have not been in their pool, but I did do a walk around the place. It is a feast of a different sort. If you are into art/sculpture and flora, this place is a dessert for the senses.

Eclectic hotel

Great, eclectic little hotel. Great bar and dinner. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Hotel is a little bit dated, but that's almost part of its charm. Staff are friendly and welcoming.
