Our original cabin layout. Pared back, built by hand, and designed around one idea: everything you need to settle in and slow down, and nothing you don't.
The cabin sleeps two. A king bed sits in its own sleeping alcove with natural linens. Big windows face the lake and the fields. There is a built-in workstation for anyone who brings work with them, individual heat and air, and a keyless smart lock so arrival is simple. Outside, a private cedar soaking tub looks out over the water. There is no television. There is a lot of sky.
The cabin is one of ten on Limestone Fields, a 16-acre working farm at Lake Limestone in Jewett, Texas. Highland cattle graze the pasture, hens lay the eggs, and the garden grows what is in season. Guests are welcome to walk the rows, collect eggs, and meet the cows, or leave all of it alone.
Your stay includes access to the Commons, our 1,200-square-foot barn with a full chef's kitchen, an outdoor kitchen with a Santa Maria grill and woodfired oven, fire pits, walking paths, and 1,200 feet of private, undeveloped lakefront. Linens, towels, and bath amenities are provided. Parking is near the cabin.
Limestone Fields is about two hours from Austin, Dallas, and Houston. The drive from Dallas is a straight shot south down I-45. Groesbeck and Mexia are the nearest towns for supplies, and Fort Parker State Park near Mexia has trails and its own quiet lake if you want a day out. Otherwise there is not much to do here, and that is the point.
Mornings sound like animals and coffee. Evenings go orange over the water and then very dark. People come here to rest, to write, to think, or to do nothing at all. All of it fits.
