We returned to Hyatt House for the second time in a couple of years, since we had a great experience the last time.
The Good:
- Fast Check In. It took all of 3 mins to get us checked into our room. The gentleman was nice and courteous and answered all of our questions with a smile.
- Parking: convenient parking available across the street at $27/night rate
- Facilities: Although we did not use the gym, laundry or business center, they seemed clean and in good working order.
- Location: Being right next to the Path station at Exchange Place is great and very convenient for getting into lower Manhattan.
The Bad:
- Our room key card would not work for our door. And we had to wait for over 30 mins for an engineer to fix it.
- Breakfast: The quality of the breakfast went down considerably compared to last time we went. The scrambled eggs were hard, the fresh fruit was anything but fresh, the bakery seemed stale.
- Room: The room was dirty and we found multiple areas where there was hair, stains on furniture and carpet, previous tenants’ personal hygiene supplies left behind.
I hope the decline in quality is due to a busy weekend since this was a disappointment for us. We are considering changing hotels the next time we come visit NYC and Jersey.
