Today, its imposing stone walls conceal warm and inviting interiors that have been carefully restored to preserve their heritage while creating a comfortable setting . At the heart of the castle lies the magnificent Great Hall, where an ornate fireplace, ironwork and ancestral portraits create a memorable backdrop for evenings together. Accommodating up to 18 guests across nine individually appointed bedrooms, Finnie Castle is perfectly suited to family celebrations, milestone occasions and group escapes. Set in the ancient Jed Valley and steeped in centuries of Border history, Finnie Castle is a remarkable 15th-century stronghold surrounded by woodland and overlooking the gently flowing River Jed, only a 90-minute drive south of Edinburgh. From the castle grounds, stroll through woodlands by the beautiful Jed River and embrace the glorious countryside vista from the viewpoint above.


Just a short distance away lies the historic market town of Jedburgh (3km), one of the Borders’ most characterful destinations. Dominating the town skyline are the striking red sandstone ruins of Jedburgh Abbey, founded in 1138 by King David I. Visitors can also explore Mary Queen of Scots’ House, which offers a fascinating insight into the life of Scotland’s ill-fated queen, and the historic Jedburgh Castle Jail & Museum. The town’s independent shops, cafés and welcoming atmosphere make it an enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.
