Fake property

The ad was too good to be true. Only 40 meters from the beach in Jaco, Costa Rica. and cheap. It turned out to be a scam listing. No address was given and there was no house at the location indicated on the Vrbo map. After spending a couple of hours trying to find the non-existent house, we called Vrbo. Fairly quickly, Vrbo reported that the phone # they had for the owner was "invalid". Vrbo refunded our money. Luckily, the owner of a nearby place, Room2Board, helped us and we ended up staying at their hotel/hostel. Our beach vacation turned out OK, but it wasn't the perfect place offered by the fake house.
Stayed 6 nights in Feb 2025
