A Historic B&B, and a Breakfast to Die For

Hanna House is ideally located for a short walk to the key sights in New Bern........Tyron Palace/museum, historic homes and churches, the riverfront, Public Market, and restaurants. We walked everywhere during our stay and did not need the use of our car. The breakfast menu is very extensive, and the food is absolutely delicious. The French Toast with sliced apples, and creme brulee topping was one to remember. We enjoyed our conversations during our stay with Camille and Joe (the owners), and the other guests. We enjoyed our stay and know you will too.

All great, except one thing…

Everything (except one thing) was fine. The location? Very convenient to shops, restaurants and highways. Parking? Literally, just outside the front door. The decor? Antiques galore which were appropriate for the vintage of the house and very well curated. Breakfast? Outstanding food and service. Check-in & check-out? Efficient and easy peasy. The one thing that didn’t measure up? Sadly, it was the bed… specifically, the mattress. It sagged so much toward the middle that my wife and I filled in the gaps with extra pillows to get it as close as possible to lay flat, which was very uncomfortable and led to a very restless night. Sorry to have to mention that, but hopefully our honesty will help prevent future guests having poor sleeping experiences.

Great Bed and Breakfast in historic New Bern

We have visited Hanna House multiple times over the past 10 years. We were always very happy there. Located in Historic New Bern yet on a quiet street it is old, built in 1896, but in great condition. The breakfast is a highlight. You can choose from a lengthy menu and even at what time. you would like breakfast. There is always homemade cake, cookies, sherry and coffee available. The host is very friendly and always willing to help.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hanna House. The room, bath and all linens were very clean. The towels were changed each day which was very appreciated. The bed was made each day and the room tidied. The breakfast menu was varied and the fresh squeezed orange juice was a delicious treat each morning. Camille and Joe were very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to seeing them on my next visit to New Bern.
