It was fine, kinda had high expectations due to the other reviews. The location is nice but the room was nothing special. You can tell where there were repairs done like different colored spots in the drywall. The bathroom wasn’t really clean. You can tell it wasn't organized or things were not in place. I never once saw hotel staff expect the one day we got breakfast. One of the main reason we got the room was because of the praised breakfast. Honestly very mediocre small portions and not great ingredients. Super stale piece of toast and when asked for more toast it was denied. Very disappointing.

Had to track down staff to check in. Staff did not even greet us - just asked for our names… strange welcome. Not too friendly staff at breakfast either. Did not feel a warm welcome. Also, room during the night was as bright as in daytime - black out curtains would be nice. Otherwise nice and comfortable lodge on a good location with nice surroundings.

We booked two nights at the Grand Idyllwild Lodge through Expedia for a family weekend, but upon arrival after a long drive through the rain, we discovered our reserved cottage was already occupied. The only available option was a single king bed room unsuitable for four adults, and staff directed us back to Expedia without any real assistance. With spotty cell service and impending dinner reservations at Cafe Aroma, we scrambled to find alternate accommodations and ultimately stayed one night at a lower-star motel recommended by the restaurant’s staff, who were very helpful. We received a refund notice via text from the lodge, but no further support or follow-up. While the lodge facilities looked great, the lack of customer service was extremely disappointing and we definitely won’t use Expedia again. Thanks to Cafe Aroma for an amazing dinner and saving part of the trip.

An Absolute Gem in Idyllwild

Our stay at the Grand Idyllwild Lodge was nothing short of magical. We were greeted with warm hospitality and breathtaking mountain views from the moment we arrived. The lodge feels luxurious yet cozy — every detail is beautifully designed, from the fireplaces to the inviting common spaces. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches that made it feel extra special. Enjoying my coffee on the deck surrounded by pine trees was a peaceful way to start the day. The owners and staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for — their kindness made our stay unforgettable. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic getaway or simply to recharge in nature, the Grand Idyllwild Lodge is pure perfection. We can’t wait to return!

The room was super cozy and the bed actually was super comfortable! Really enjoyed the private deck, the little golf putting course. Their simple continental breakfast is actually super amazing and their dining nook is adorable with a great view of the trees snd rock face. Definitely would stay here again and enjoy their library. Only complaint is the room could of been cleaner down around the tables, there was still some dust and hair. Otherwise room was nice and clean with fresh towels, plus robes!!

The place has gone down hill. Signs of delayed maintenance every where. They lost their attention to detail. Our sheets had a large rip in very visible location. The bathroom had been repainted very sloppily and amenities (umbrellas on the private Sout facing deck) were missing and unavailable. What a difference 5 years makes. We wont be returning.
