Great stop if you’re driving the ring road and don’t want to do Reykjavik to Akureyri in 1 day! We were the first to arrive for the night so we were a little worried because it didn’t look open from the road but once inside, it’s clean, cozy and the views are great—Open/dark skies for northern lights viewing close to a beautiful black sand beach! The hotel and rooms are very basic but it was still quite pricey although there were hardly any other guests. It seems as though the owners are still only part way through renovating it. The location is beautiful & very peaceful. Breakfast was minimal but we had a good dinner the night before about 30 minutes away in Hvammstangi at Sjavarborg restaurant.

Just a few minutes away from the hvitserkur, perfect to see it first thing in the morning. The breakfast was really good, try the waffles! The staff was sweet and accomodating (we arrive in the middle of the night due to a snow storm, they left the key for us at the reception) Bonus point for the cute islandic blanket over the bed, keeping us really warm, even with the snow storm outside ^-^
