Give it a miss

Hainan Hongyun was probably a landmark in its day: designed to resemble a sailing ship, the high-rise hotel is a nostalgic throwback to the early days of China's tourism boom. Now long in the tooth, the hotel's tawdry fixtures scream for renovation as do the dank hallways with cigarette-stained floors. The lobby serves as a triage area for incoming gaggles of guests and the restaurant and karaoke lounges do a roaring trade. But other than the location, which is within long-legged walking distance of Haikou's old town, it has little to offer the tired overseas guest.

Hainan Hongan Hotelli ympäristöineen

Itse hotelli oli yleisilmeeltään kaunis ja hotellihuone siisti ja iso. Kylpyhuoneen toimivuutta ei oltu ajateltu, sillä suihkutilan ovi aukesi siten, että vain langan laihalta sinne onnistui mennä ongelmitta. Myös wc-paperia oli aina vain puolikasrulla ja se tietysti loppui kesken. Henkilökunnan englannin taito oli heikko, mutta onneksi he olivat avuliaita. Hotelli kokonaisuudessaan varsin sopiva länsimaalaisille turisteille, mutta olisi hyvä olla ladattuna käännösohjelma, jotta asioiminen olisi joustavampi. Juha ja Elena Suomesta.
