Nestled in 5 acres of native bush, only a one minute walk from door to beach front, and your choice of two twenty minute walks along the beach to the Taramakau River or New River, you'll see the best of the West Coast's outdoors.

Beautiful location, warm and friendly hosts, lovely accomodation. The pantry had some basics to help with cooking, there was shampoo, conditioner and soap to use. Huge beds! The place was very spacious, peaceful and relaxing place.

A great spot to stay for a couple of nights. Our family of 4 had a relaxing break and enjoyed the added bonus of doing our own bonfire - with marshmallows and all - on the beach 2 minutes away from the cottage. Friendly hosts and good amenities. Recommended !

The Host’s were awesome. Tone greeted us and showed us around. Tavanna sent us great things to see and do on our drive there. Sure appreciated her suggestions. Once there she came by for a visit which was very enjoyable. Made it feel like home. The place was very large (two large bedrooms, a kitchen between them and a bathroom to share) and comforting. Beach access was a nice short walk.Wish we could have stayed for at least two nights. If you book, stay a minimum of 2 nights.

We were immediately at ease when Tavanna messaged to give us so ideas for stops on the drive. Both Tone and Tavanna met us on arrival and showed us around; the beach is truly so close! We loved making fires on the beach, collecting eggs with Tone and the Gorge walk. The apartment was well set up and the kids enjoyed having their own room. Wifi is slow (but this is NZ, so that makes sense) and there is no oven, but it was very comfortable for the 3 nights we stayed.We loved staying here with our kids and would happily do so again. The hosts are so welcoming but give you your space and it is truly amazing to have your own private beach (or do it feels!).

Peaceful location

The property is set in an amazing location. So very peaceful and lovely beach walks available right on the door step. Sadly we left a night early because there was an awful smell in the property. We didn’t report this until after leaving as we didn’t feel comfortable to do so. Our hosts were welcoming but we felt a little invading of privacy with coming over each day. We understand the initial introductory but to come and ask where we have been and say it was a little late for you to go have breakfast was in honest opinion a little weird and threw us back. The cleanliness of the bathroom was not ok. There was hair and built up dust in the bathroom and hair in the main bed. Cooking and kitchen facilities were awesome. I know I should have brought up our issues with the host inside but we didn’t feel comfortable. It was also unusual we thought there were keys to lock the doors but they don’t lock. I did send a message after leaving to let them know why we left a day early due to not being able to handle the smell. I was greeted with a message basically telling me there is no issue. I didn’t want to leave a bad review as the location is amazing. It appears we are the only ones who feel this way so maybe it’s just not the right fit for our needs.
