Beautiful 1865 Craftsman retreat w/ gated courtyard in the heart of Grass Valley
Welcome to our peaceful retreat in the heart of downtown Grass Valley! This beautifully restored 1865 Craftsman bungalow blends historic character with modern comfort, offering airy, skylit rooms, curated textures, and lush garden spaces. With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a bonus room, the home provides a boutique‑level stay just steps from the Center for the Arts, cafés, tasting rooms, breweries, shops, and the charm of historic Main and Mill Streets. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway, a creative escape, outdoor trail and river adventures, or a quiet place to unwind, the home invites you to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the Sierra foothills.
Inside, natural light fills the living spaces, highlighting warm wood details and thoughtful design. The living room offers soft sectional seating, a smart TV, and high‑speed WiFi, creating a calm place to relax or work. A cozy bonus room overlooks the garden and provides a quiet spot to read or recharge. Both bedrooms feature queen beds with organic linens, ceiling fans, and calming décor. The primary bedroom includes an en‑suite bathroom with a step‑in shower and double vanity, while the secondary bedroom opens to a private outdoor seating area.
The kitchen and dining room overlook the garden and white picket fence. The kitchen is fully equipped with a French‑door refrigerator, gas cooktop and oven, dishwasher, deep-basin sink, Keurig coffee maker, toaster oven, tea kettle, and all essential cookware and tools. A dining room with seating for six and a built‑in bar nook makes meals feel special.
Both bathrooms have been refreshed with modern finishes while preserving the home’s timeless charm. The guest bath offers a spa‑like feel with a massage‑spray shower head and plush organic towels.
For convenience, the home includes a washer and dryer with detergent, an iron and ironing board, heating and air conditioning, and ceiling fans in both bedrooms and the living room. For peace of mind, exterior Ring cameras monitor the front door and the back patio entrance, and safety essentials, such as a fire extinguisher and first‑aid kit, are provided. No interior cameras are present.
Outside, the home is surrounded by lush, flower‑filled gardens within a gated courtyard. Multiple seating areas—including a front patio, bistro dining, and a private café table—create peaceful spaces to enjoy morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The neighborhood is quiet, walkable, and lined with mature trees and historic homes.
Parking is easy, with space for up to two vehicles in the driveway and free street parking along the picket‑fence side of the home. The location is one of the property’s greatest advantages—just steps from the Holbrooke Hotel, the Center for the Arts, cafés, bakeries, tasting rooms, breweries, restaurants, wine bars, and boutique shops. Public transit is accessible with routes to Nevada City and a new Yuba River shuttle this summer!
We know you'll enjoy our private retreat just as much as we do. It's a truly special place.
