The property is located in a ski resort and has great views of the surrounding hills. We visited in September, so not a time of year when it is busy. It is convenient to Grand Marais, trails, and area parks and waterfalls. A new restaurant is located on the property.
Building “A” where our room was located faces towards the ski slope, and had a great view. That is about all that was good about this property.
The nightly room rate is quite high, and you expect the property to be in good condition when paying a premium price. Wrong. The interior is dated with older “motel” furniture and dirty carpeting. We could hear every foot step above us. There were deep gouges in the paint in places, the bathroom was extremely small and the door wouldn’t close tightly. And, the towel bar fell off the wall after putting a towel on it.
The staff were good to deal with, but given the condition of the room, generous at 2 stars.
