Bare minimum

Parking was in dark, poorly lit area. Room carpet was dirty and needed replacing. No luggage stands. Toilet flush refill made so much noise that neighbor was complaining.

These are the facts of our 1 night stay Stayed in a cottage room, twin 1 bed base was completely broken 1 duvet cover was unwashed Tea and coffee dish was unwashed 1 mug was covered in “powder “ Back door didn’t have a curtain and let the light in. This was a short notice stay in that our flight, hence trip to Ireland, was scrubbed. We thought a stay outside Edinburgh would be nice and Aberdour fits that bill. That being said we found the staff accommodating, the food very good and the location is good with a short walk to the railway etc.

Public areas are really nice, staff were excellent and food in the Cary Grill was excellent. Hotel slightly let down by aging condition of rooms. TV not working properly and bathroom shower was a challenge to operate and keep the shower head from continuously dropping off.

I found it easy to park; the Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful; the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. On the down side, I was in room 244 and I think that you could do more to make the wee patio area more attractive as it is a brilliant asset but very underdeveloped. Additionally the shower room needs attention as there's a poor standard of finish which could be easily sorted out when it's next vacant. Overall, a really great stay!

GOOD: Food in associated restaurant was good. BAD: 1: I thought I requested one accessible room, but your website was not clear. The hotel person i spoke with a few days before arrival said it was on ground floor and, if memory serves me correctly (perhaps?), that a wheel chair could roll into this room. However, there were two steps to get into the room, which proved VERY difficult for our 90 yr old relative. Furthermore, the shower had a step up of approx 10 inches, Disappointing! 2: On arrival, outside temp was ~ 15 degrees, and the rooms were about the same temp. Radiators were off, staff didn't seem to know how to switch them on. they did eventually switch on at night, but it's unnacceptable for a room charge of 125 pounds to have no way to heat the room - in Scotland! 3: Initially we could see only ONE bath towel, between three adults. We requested a couple more and were given one OK and one ripped, almost threadbare towel. 4: The curtains in both rooms appeared to be dirty, old with a few hangars off leaving gaps. 5: BRIGHT light outside the door we could not switch off. The dirty, worn out roller blind didn't cover the door window, so people could see in and we had virtually no sleep, as it seemed like it was daylight in the room. 6: The toilet seat in the pensioners room was loose and therefore a clear danger to a pensioner. 7: For 125 pounds i expected a phone 8: Plenty of cobwebs in both rooms. This hotel definitely not 4*, worse than a bothy.

Lovely family wedding

Very much enjoyed the steak pie and breakfast in the morning. We didn’t have shampoo and conditioner in our room, small detail overall.
